I received a request to write a review for this poster. A bit difficult to do since I never received my order. I also never received a response to the two emails I sent asking about my order.

I ordered this for my dads birthday. He loved it and so do I. I am constantly amazed at each picture Brian takes. He just seems to have an uncanny ability to capture what the naked eye seems to miss. My husband is making a frame for it and once we have it completed I will post the completed project. I hope to order more -- this time for me.

Artist's Description

This is another purely emotional, expressionistic paint. I taped the paper to the floor (it is a large work), then got the paper nice and wet. While it dried I opened many bottles of watercolor ink and eventually just started dropping in places where I felt they should go. No consideration to composition or balancing of color, just pure gut. When the paper was filled with color I put several pieces of plastic wrap over the surface, blended the come through the wrap, and then formed color ridges by pulling and stretching the plastic wrap. I think the final creation looks like ferns in a garden with other red and purple flowers. Abstracted, of course. This is one of those situations where you look at water you have created and figure out what it is only once the paint has dried. I think the composition works. And the colors. And I am happy that I am able to say that the creation was based on what I felt should come next. They should all turn out this well.

About Brad Rickerby

Brad Rickerby might just as well have been born with a camera in his hand. The son of LIFE staff photographer Arthur Rickerby, Brad Rickerby developed a profound visual aesthetic early on and had his first publication credit in LIFE in 1966 at the age of nine. Rickerby flirted with the business world in the '80's, earned an MBA (Duke, '89) and worked on Wall Street with the Dreyfus Corporation. But inevitably he was compelled to reject the confines of the corporate world, to return to his creative roots. Rickerby's re-birth into creativity came in 1991 when he started shooting for the Brooklyn (NY) Phoenix. From there he went on to do paparazzi work for Sipa Press and eventually to news photography as a full time stringer for Reuters...
