I created this in support of women around the world who have been victimized, raped, assaulted, harassed, killed and discriminated because of their religion, color or race.

In the name of religion, women continue to be victimized and objectified by those in position of power. Recently, we have seen white men pass law that marginalizes a women’s right to choice. The most unfortunate part of this is that this is happening in a free society. This tight network of “righteous men” have deep roots across the globe. The same men prosecute Yazidi women and sell them as slaves during conflict in Syria. In Burma, they green -lighted the rape of Rohingya women as a weapon to silence. They have also ordered school girls to be kidnapped by guerillas to show that women are inferior to men.

This is all too familiar to us women and wrenchingly painful for the mothers who gave birth to such evil, in Georgia, Alabama, Syria, Nigeria, India, Burma, Rome, Philippines….etc etc

But women have a voice……Adorned with a bright sunflower on her head, she is strong, faithful, loving and humble. To many, she seems broken and often is labelled as such, however she carries tradition and history on her shoulders and is the epitome of survival. She is not broken. She is history that bears the future.
