Beautiful piece of artwork, Carol ! Congratulations on your sale ! Best wishes, Juergen

As Ginsberg once said "Reality is a question of realizing how real the world is already." I think you've caught the essence of Ginsberg here Carole.. the colors portray him with curious intensity and ... you can almost see the machine at work in his mind... I love it!!

This is a fantastic piece Carole, I really enjoy your work.

Great portrait of Ginsberg...John Sinclair,a pupil of his use to hang out with me in a New Orleans bar.if you get a chance google him..he is now in Amsterdam...your colors are wonderful Carole....ted

I can feel him, he is in a great state of wonder, and his eyes knows it all. Love it Carole

Thanks for comments on this portrait. It was painted in 1971, shortl;y after starting my first teaching job. A small private school hired me to teach art for only two and a half days a week, affording me the time I needed to develop my portrait style. Alan Ginberg my subject, was a mentor to Bob Dylan, whose music was just bursting forth on the scene. My friends and I were crazy about Dylan and his thought provoking lyrics. This philosophic portrait is just as much an hommage to Dylan as it is to Mr. Ginsberg. I would have loved to have heard them perform at Gerdes Folk Club in Greenwich Village , but I was young, and broke and had to content myself with listening via my record albums.

very interesting style. glowing and pensive. I like his eyes.thanks Carole..for comments on Collage of Mountains. It is a series of small encaustic paintings put together.

Artist's Description

Allen Ginsberg June 3, 1926 - April 5, 1997 was an American poet and one of the leading figures of the Beat Generation in the 1950s. He vigorously opposed militarism, materialism and sexual repression. Ginsberg is best known for his epic poem "Howl", in which he celebrated his fellow "angel-headed hipsters" and harshly denounced what he saw as the destructive forces of capitalism and conformity in the United States. This poem is one of the classic poems of the Beat Generation. The poem, which was dedicated to writer Carl Solomon, opens: I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through the negro streets at dawn looking for an angry fix..In "Howl" and in his other poetry, Ginsberg drew inspiration from the epic, free verse style of the 19th century American poet Walt Whitman. Both wrote passionately about the promise (and betrayal) of American democracy, the central importance of erotic experience, and the spiritual quest...
