Albert Einstein's home, 49 Kramgasse, Bern, Switzerland. It was here, while working at the Swiss Patent Office, that the German-Swiss-US theoretical physicist Albert Einstein (1879-1955) worked on his famous 1905 papers. One, on Special Relativity, would lead to his renowned mass-energy equation. Another concerned Brownian motion. The last, on the photoelectric effect, earned him the 1921 Nobel Prize for Physics. Special Relativity, with his 1915 General Theory of Relativity, would rewrite our concepts of gravity, space and time.
