Like the logo but not the tank top so much it rides to low at the front and the back.
My father, Willoughby F. Senior, was a graduate of the National Academy School of Fine Arts. He had lived in Wyoming, in the log cabin he and my older brother Thor built in the wilds of the Cedar Breaks, for decades before he passed away in 1984. Recently I found a stack of canvas boards he'd begun, including this one which consisted of a rough ink sketch, no paint yet applied. He had, however, completed 2 other versions of a similar scene. So, I didn't try to duplicate what he had done, but instead felt free to do my own thing with the painting. I felt his presence so keenly as I worked, hearing the encouragement and advice he gave me, beginning at age 4. I hope you enjoy the results!
I have been an artist since I was knee high to a short-horned locust. My dad, Willoughby Senior (FAA) was a professional artist and writer and I have stepped in his shoes since I was born, though he drew horses better than I did when I was a kid. My family lived in a hand-hewn log cabin we built ourselves in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and had no water or electricity. I love my life with my husband and family in Wyoming among the horses, gophers, deer, antelope, coyotes, red-tailed hawks, and the wild landscape. My work is driven by the land, animals, wild plants and birds I have come to know so well. Hummingbirds still try to get nectar from my upturned fingers. My artwork consists of all these things and more...
