Artist's Description
I painted six paintings from this wonderful area near Taos along the Rio Grande Gorge. The painting was started on an August day and the sky was particularly beautiful because of the many clouds passing overhead. Each day and part of a day brought different kinds of weather because it was monsoon season.
About Phyllis Tarlow
Phyllis Tarlow has been working professionally as an artist since the mid-1980's. After working as an illustrator, she gradually turning toward portraiture and fine art. Increasingly, oil landscapes and animal paintings have become the central focus of Phyllis's work. She paints en plein air and in her Hartsdale, NY, studio. Photography has been added to the mix over the years as photographic reference has become important to her work. Phyllis will be adding photos of subjects that she loves and feels work well as photographs and which she doesn't choose to paint at this time but would like to share. Commissioned portraits of people, animals and houses also hold a place in Phyllis's work life. She has become well known for her sensitive...
