I love visiting Black Hawk Lake! Each time I go I see another bird that I didn’t discover the first time around. I was especially interested in this one coot that was enjoying its preening time on a muskrat house. When it turned to the other side to start it’s preening, I noticed that it only had one leg. Animals, birds and people can and will survive, excel and live happy with just one leg. I was happy that it had adapted and got along just fine. A lesson learned from an American Coot.
