Your Zephyrus tote bag depicts an ad which was created in 1935 for the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. The Zephyrus was a locomotive that they were promoting. The word Zephyr is from the Greek. It is the personification of the west wind and God of gentle breeze. It is also associated with Spring and flowers. Zephyrettes were train car attendants exclusively working in California Zephyr Dome cars. They wore suits with pencil skirts and pillbox hats, somewhat akin to a flight attendant, and were in service from 1936 to 1970 (except during the War years). They worked closely with the Conductor. Besides navy blue, over the years they wore brown, teal and gray suits as well as blue dresses with a white stripe down the side and green dresses with a similar orange stripe. In summer the suit was white worn with a navy blue blouse. I volunteer on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad which runs through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, just south of Cleveland, Ohio, and brought the Zephyrette to CVSR last July. I dress (the best part of the ensemble are seamed stockings!) and portray her when working in one of our Dome cars. She has been well-received by our passengers. Am including a photo of me in my brown suit holding your tote bag and I’m standing on the steps of our Silver Lariat Dome car, circa 1948. Also, I wear a Zephyr pin which you can see on my left lapel. So glad I happened to find your website while surfing the web. Your tote bag makes the ensemble complete and perfect. I also ordered one of your small zippered bags. Kind regards.

Title: Angel's Pirouette
The Angel Trumpet flower is known for its side view of the white flower trumpeting downward in a graceful profile, flaring out at the bottom. This view is looking up from beneath at the sensual folds and seeing the blue of a California sky glowing through the translucent petals.
For the past few years I've been painting flowers up so close that they envelope the viewer in their sensuality and rich color. Enlarged, they become almost abstractions from nature without seeing the outer shape or the environment around them.
This is an original full sheet watercolor painting by Sandy Haight, a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society. It is framed with white archival mat and backing in a white metal 1" contemporary frame.

I was honored to be the gold medal winning poster artist for the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in 2016 with my watercolor painting of a tulip bouquet....
Watercolor is my medium. I zoom in and compose from my photos to fill a picture plane with a compelling design that takes the viewer into an abstract and sensual world. I look for beautiful transitions of color or textures that could be expressed luminously with my many glazes of watercolor, or that might provide an opportunity for me to try new painting techniques. I paint the inner landscape of flowers calling these works Floralscapes. The shapes, designs and patterns inside flowers and plants are the subject that awakened my love of painting, giving me a chance to create images of stunning beauty while merging realism with an abstract sense of design. As my paintings get larger, and I face new technical challenges with watercolor,...
