From 1983, I did this drawing shortly after meeting the actress. I loved her in movies, particularly in Forbidden Planet (a film from which I recently did a painting ALSO with Anne Francis and her co-stars Leslie Nielsen and Robby the Robot). I would like to say that the original drawing, no longer in my possession, is as good as it appears here but the moody shadow to the right is not my pencil work but a trick of the camera. I couldn't have done this better if I created the mood in Photoshop!
I consider myself primarily an illustrator. I never quite fit in with others, so I grew up isolated and found much of my comfort in movies, comic books, music, and books. My artistic influences include fantasy illustrators from the "Brandywine" school of Howard Pyle to the best comic book artists of today. I get my inspiration from such widely diverse sources as the absurd, music, classic movies, myth, pin-up, fantasy literature, and my Catholic sensibilities.
