Description
Marina City is a complex of buildings located in Chicago, Illinois. The group includes an auditorium structure, a hotel and (2) sixty-five story residential towers. Positioned on the north bank of the Chicago River, the complex also includes a small marina for docking pleasure craft during the boating season. Architect Bertrand Goldberg designed the buildings in the late 1950's and construction was finished in 1964. At the time of completion, the Marina City Towers were the tallest residential buildings in the world and the tallest reinforced concrete structures in the world. The towers are commonly referred to as the "corn cob" buildings.
NOTE:
This image was shot on black and white, 35mm film. The film negative was professionally scanned to create a digital file. The grain of the film may be somewhat visible at most print sizes, which is a typical characteristic of prints made from a film negative. This grain will be most noticeable when printed at the "Large", "Grande" and "Massive" print sizes.
All prints have a black border around the image. The image catalog number, a description of the image and photographer's name are included within the black border at the bottom. The print has a white margin at all four sides as shown in the preview.
