The artist is my son and is very talented. In high school he was accepted by Chicago Art Institute but couldn’t afford the tuition. He graduated from Fredonia State University with a Fine Art degree.
This digital photograph is one of a series taken over the years during long (11-hour) transatlantic flights from London to Los Angeles... A route which skirted the North Pole itself then descended diagonally across North America, from the Canadian Baffin Bay on the East Coast, over the deserted and permanently frozen 'fastness' (to use a word I like: meaning "a secure or fortified place; stronghold: [e.g.] 'a' mountain fastness'") of the same country's impenetrable- (and infinite-)seeming Northern Territories; from Canada the flight route traversed the westerly perimeter of the Midwest United States (maybe Idaho, or the Dakotas) before crossing Nevada & Utah into Southern California. Clearly, it's a trajectory containing many contrasting landscapes, all of them viewed from the commercial flying altitude of 30,000 feet. Some of them were mesmerising​ sights (especially the eternally snowbound Far North), just as others (the Midwest, for instance) could appear mind-mumbingly banal or m...
