Description
The Arkansas and Missouri short line railroad is based in Fort Smith, Arkansas and runs along a 150-mile corridor to Monet, Missouri. The line carries passengers in vintage, 1930’s and 1930’s cars, and also moves freight between the two terminals with many stops along the way as it meanders through scenic Ozark forests, over hight trestles and a quarter-mile long tunnel. The railroad’s web site says that it cannot “accommodate pack mules or pet chickens on our train rides. This particular image was accomplished not with digital equipment, but 1970’s analog techniques. It began life as a Polaroid Time-Zero print spit out of a Polaroid SX-70 camera. Then, using various small, hand-held tools, I carefully manipulated the still-malleable print to create a painterly look. Friend Bonnie Hansen posed later wearing garb from her extensive antique clothing collection, and I combined the original depot photo with a Time-Zero print of her.
