Dear Mr. Edlund, Thanks for the comments, send me your e-mail to and I'll add you to my "chosen ones" list of friends to whom I send out stuff that I paint and write about. Things like the demise of the newspaper industry, featuring Warren Buffet and Ben Franklin. Just interesting thought provoking artwork, that is not necesssarily suited for a venue like FAA. The little army men were painted right on the painting to create the illusion of a mat. They were deliberately painted slightly blurry and out of focus. Haldy Gifford

I am neither a republican or a democrat. I try and stay away from politics, however, this painting speaks to me. The army men make me feel like I am playing with tin soldiers as a child. It gives you real perspective on what our society has become and where we are going. Is this just a child's game? I respect our Marines and their service, they are truly, braver men then I. A question to the artist, is that a mat or is it all art of the painting? The integration is almost too seamless. I really connect with your art. Several of your other paintings are technically, almost, perfect, this one though doesn't need to be. You invoke less humor, like you say, then introspective thought. Thanks for giving life back to water colors, an art I lost faith in. I stumbled upon your work by accident on fineart and here I am rambling away about your work. I Wish You the Best of Luck Mr. Gifford, C. Edlund

Yes... the painting is good. It conveys the feeling I think you intended. Gene... ex-army 2nd Battalion 28th Infantry 1974-78 (Black Lions)
