Perfect. My dining room is styled in Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau, and this is a magnificent example of the transition period. Excellent print and high quality matting and framing.

Artist's Description
The Atom Mfg. Company was located in Attleboro, Massachusetts, USA, where this wooden, lure was made around 1945. This type of lure is called a swimmer and typically rides below the surface of the water. The company turned to making plastic lures around 1948.
Vintage (sometimes called antique) fishing tackle is a hot collector's item and is only gaining in popularity. At the top of the list are old, wooden lures which are highly valued when in pristine condition. There are favorite colors, makers, and styles. Saltwater plugs have a serious and dedicated following. We enjoy these old pieces of history, but I differ from my husband in that I love the battered and worn ones that show the scars of battles with feisty fish and the handling by avid fishermen. I even have one I found on the beach that is barely recognizable. It may show up here sometime in the future as I am totally taken with it.
About Carol Senske
I always wanted to try photography, and my retirement offered an opportunity to do just that. The natural world is my first love. Here you will find pictures of things both large (landscapes, for instance) and small (macro) that catch my eye. I hope the images serve as a window into the natural world many of you don't have the chance to see. In a sense, I'm trying to create a guided nature trail, sharing what information I have about the subject. I'm always grateful for new and better information and welcome all input. Learning is food for the mind and soul. Nothing is ever harmed in the picture-taking process, but some things that wander into our home (like spiders) are carefully removed from the house after they serve as "models"....

a wonderful composition here and a real kick in the butt for me as i am born, raised and live in attleboro and i never heard of the atom co. till now. we are known as the jewelry capitol of the world but lure's who knew. i read the obit on the founder of the co. and he lived on the other side of town and assume atom was over that way. i'll do some asking around.
Carol Senske replied:
The area had a few lure manufacturing companies - proximity to the ocean probably made it happen. The other thing that I find interesting is the use of plastic as early as 1948. I prefer the wooden lures, but the plastic ones are, at times, just as old. The Bass Bomb was made in Dighton - early 50's I believe, a simple but effective striper lure. Thanks for the fun comment; I'd be tickled if this sent you on a search and find kind of mission.

This was on of my favorite fishing lures for fishing off Plum Island. I agree with you the more battered and worn the more interesting and all the more fish stories one can imagine :) - v/f
Carol Senske replied:
I hope you caught many a fine fish:>). Thank you for the v/f and I enjoyed you comment very much!
