The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal operated along the Potomac River from 1828 to 1924. It is now a US National Park, and covers 184.5 miles from Washington DC to Cumberland, Maryland. This lock is in the Great Falls area in Maryland.
About William Kuta
The icons along our National Mall served as the backdrop for my first career in Washington, DC. Now they are some of the photographic subjects for my second career. I specialize in the DC region, the Mid-Atlantic and East Coast, with other excursions near and far.
