Description
AUTUMN BLAZE by Lynn Bauer - Fall colors blaze around Rock Creek Lake in the High Sierra mountains of California. The aspen trees turn quickly during the autumn months, leaving behind their green shades of summer. Most of the trees turn to shimmering shades of yellow and gold. But, at times, the circumstances line up right to see more of the oranges and reds...as was the case here. This image was taken at the peak of fall color, as a storm came in and blew many of these leaves off the branches just one day after we were there.
This was a group of aspen that were particularly colorful and had a huge range of color within a short distance. I loved how the colors mixed together! Typically you may find one, or two, shades of color together, but this group seemed to cover the whole spectrum of aspen colors!
Rock Creek Lake is located off of Highway 395 between the towns of Bishop and Mammoth Lakes. It is part of the Inyo National Forest and the John Muir Wilderness Area in Mono County, California.
