Artist's Description

Babcock Grist Mill Operating on Glade Creek Babcock State Park, West Virginia This mill was constructed from parts of other mills. The Stoney Creek Grist Mill in Pochaontas County, stone main floor and some other parts came from Onego Grist Mill in Pendleton County, and the wheel came from the Spring Run Grist mill in Grant County. About Timothy Smith

As a child my favorite thing to draw was cartoon characters, especially Pop-eye. As I grew older and time passed, my one and only sister married. The man she married was an excellent artist and he started to teach me the basics of drawing and then eventually painting with oils. I was starting to do pretty well and around this time it was discovered that my sister, who had played a large part of my early childhood development, had uterine cancer. This was devastating to the entire family, but I took it pretty hard being the youngest of three boys and our only sister, along with her little daughter, Wendy. I continued for a short while in painting after the death of my sister, but eventually I no longer had the heart for it and pretty...
