Greetings and Poster...01/24/2013
Perfect as a birth announcement card, baby shower, or decoration for the nursery.
NOTE: The watermark in the lower right does not show in the final piece.
The walls are the green that your mother approved, after three long attempts at perfection. The first shade was dreadful, the second abhorrent, and both were doomed for rejection.
But now its just right, that third coat applied, and your room feels restful and calm. For the eyes its relaxing paintings so taxing! and for your nerves it serves as a balm.
We framed several pictures, your mother and I, and hung them this way and that. We bought Dr. Seuss prints: Green Eggs and Ham, and the fish from the
cat in hat
When you cry to us in the twinkly wee hours, we make a beeline straight to your crib. Are you dreaming again, perhaps reoccurring, of a fresh batch of milk and a bib?
We spy you in there, our little boy Gus, flopping this way and that. You look like a tadpole pulled from a lake, or that fish from the Cat in the Hat!
With a scoop of our arms we pluck you from slumber, to be changed, for a hug and the bottle. At four months of age you ask for us often, and your folks are happy to coddle.
When your belly is full we pat at your back to make sure the belches are purged. Is one of those times (and there will be others) when treatment and comfort converge.
Then its back in your crib for the final night hours, your bedding lined with green fishes. The fact that you're here, cheeks salty with tears, has fulfilled both your folks grandest wishes.
In the just-right green room with the pictures and Seusses, sleep tight snuggly baby, sleep tight. We loved you this evening, we loved you this feeding, and we'll love you at first morning light
