This was why Roccasecca was not to be. The hillside climb would have be in clouds and rain. This would not have been a good choice as the wooden stairs and landings are…dubious but OK when one can see and not slip. We won’t go into the potentials of climbing on the ruins of Saint Thomas Aquinas’ ancestral castle in the rain. The ride up to Fossanova had its own mysteries as the bus driver was a little at a loss on how to get there. We arrived quite safe and sound having seen a little of the valley’s rural areas.
