Description

Balancing Act is a good natured poke at zodiac lore. The astrological signs of the zodiac are commonly known and each spans about a month. There are also twelve Chinese zodiac animals that represent years. 2019 is the year of the pig, but the explanations for zodiac animals and years actually go further, and often contradict the astrological signs, and those often contradict numerology, and so on. If interested, one can keep up with whichever one is preferred, but it all seems to be just one big balancing act. The artwork here features two flying pigs, depicted by hair clips, balancing on a star chart, with an astrological zodiac chart and central sun hovering above them. The background consists of cracked stone, antique metal ephemera and other grungy elements, with a colorful blended overlay. With so many twists and turns and factors to take in, where does one begin to make sense of it all?
