Balvaird Castle was started in about 1500 as a residence for Sir Andrew Murray. He was a younger son of the Murrays of Tullibardine, and had recently acquired the lands of Balvaird through marriage to the heiress Margaret Barclay. The family was a prosperous one. Sir Andrew's successors in time became earls of Mansfield, and the main branch became dukes of Atholl.
My wife unfortunately passed away from her long battle with cancer and I thank everyone that has bought carolines photographs and hope you continue which will support our children sincere regards Tristan Loughrey I started my love of photography when I was 13 yrs. old. I took a course with a friend and borrowed my cousin's SLR camera. I then persuaded my parents to get me my own, a Canon AE-1 SLR circa 1978 I think it was. I was never without it, I became photography editor of our high school yearbook, that was fun! Fast forward to the digital age and I still love it.
