Bandaged leg ulcer. The hand of a medical worker wraps a bandage around an ulcer on the leg of a patient. Skin ulcers most commonly occur on the leg. An open sore develops resulting from inadequate blood supply to, or drainage from, the limb. Other causes of ulcers include bedsores, diabetes, varicose veins and the infection of small wounds. Treatment is by bandaging the wound using a wet dressing under the bandage.
