This was painted from a telephone shot my sweet daughter in law took and posted as her Facebook as her head shot. I loved it and asked her permission to paint it. I have the joy to paint with a gifted group of senior painters on Wednesdays. We offer each other support and advise. I began painting this picture from back to front as we do all paintings. I had many questions about what I was painting. The oak trees in the background were all straight and black as I started the painting. So when my questioning friends started asking me what I was painting I jokingly replied a Barcode, because that is what it looked like the barcode the store swipes to ring up your purchases at the ceckout. My family thought it was a great name and challenged me to keep the name even though it does not fit the finished painting very well. I love my family and do a lot to try to keep them happy. B.J. Hilton Hitchcock B.J. Hilton Hitchcock was born in Pensacola, Florida. She was raised in Knoxville, Tennessee with her four brothers. She lives in Maryville, Tennessee with her husband. They have two grown children, a son and a daughter. BJ graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, with a degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. She was employed as a teacher for many years. BJ began painting as a preteen. Her first paintings were watercolors. She was greatly influenced by her Junior High Art teacher, Bill Lett.
