Artist's Description
It is breathtaking to walk through the ancient paths within the Roman Forum. Many of the remains are over 2000 years old. The big open space at the center of a city where people would go to buy and sell goods, catch up on the news, was called a forum. This is the place that held government buildings for the Senate. Great minds met and exchanged ideas. This is what remains of some of the Basilica Aemilia in the Roman Forum. This was built in 179 BC by the censors Mrcus Aemilius Lepidus after who the basilica was named.
