This is the second Illustration from the yet to be; self-published book, The Leopard & the Clay. Leopard a beautiful yet prideful character, displays his magnificent golden coat from the highest rock for all to see. The resultant glow lingers to set the rocks & night skies alight with luminance, chasing even leopards own shadow from beneath where he sits.
A striking, slightly awkward composition highlights the uneasiness of the situation for observers within the storyline. An oppressive night-sky vortexes with ominous subtext, reminiscent of Gargoyles perched on an ancient Gothic cathedral in the full moon, or sphinxes protecting a forbidden Egyptian pyramid, these only as examples; set apart for forms of worship with less than honourable intensions.. The rocky outcrop is again a detailed reproduction of existing rocks found near the artists family sea-side cottage, off the East Coast of Southern Africa; a fitting setting for any leopard who faces the dawn of mankind.
