This painting was inspired by a photo of a rock that was posted by Linda Toy Segerson who took three photos of this amazing rock. It looked to me like the rock was complaining so it was just a matter of a moment to think of what it may be complaining about. In the meantime, I wanted to get an important message out to children (and people in general) about the importance of what we think of beauty, someone else may think of ugliness. Hence the title. I think this is an important message. This painting was created from compiled photos to retain their originality. The photos of the bird, the Coral tree, and the background are my photos, which I then painted minimally in Photoshop.

This is digitally painted by hand on my computer. Digitally painted pictures printed on canvas have the nicest effects. Since I was a painter in oil and other mediums like tempera for 30 years, I understand what an oil paint should look like and I those skills are added to my digital paintings.
