I told our driver that the lilac breasted roller (Coracias caudatus) was at the top of my photo list on my recent trip to Tanzania. He easily obliged…seems they’re quite common there, but you can’t ever see enough of these beauties. The title of this photograph says it all. This roller is beautiful enough just perched at the top of a tree branch. But on the wing? Brilliant, vibrant, flashing colors. Unfortunately, in flight, they’re way too fast for me and my camera.
