This artwork was created for a logo contest for the Transformer Group. I turned a landscape photograph of Nubble Lighthouse into a digital painting. This shows my progression from a base photo to one processed with the camera raw filter on the next layer, enhancing and refining the original photo. Next step is to create an underpainting layer as well as one with leading lines. My last layer is my painting canvas. I mix up my digital paint colors, select my digital brushes and I "transform" my photograph into a digital painting.
My dad loved gadgets and he put a camera in my hands when I turned 6. My mom is an artist and for that same birthday, she gave me an easel box and enrolled me in a painting class. Up until I became an adult, drawing and oil painting were my passions and photography was a hobby. I took a hiatus from art by putting my oils and brushes away, but I still kept taking pictures. When I bought my digital camera, I went from a hobbyist to a full time photographer, never being without my camera. I travel the world capturing the sparkle in the eyes of both people and animals, the rising sun as it awakens the scenery around me and the magnificent colors of the setting sun, street life, patterns that surround us and macro photography.
