Love the painting and the rich colorful blues, reds, greens, & yellows! A nice addition to our cowboy/southwest decor vibe.

Beautifully expressed rendition of the Shrine of the Bab. The frame and matting showcase the print. We have it prominently on our living room wall with other sacred pictures.

I think the frame and mat work very well with this, it is really impressive in person. Grouped with a small Grant Wood with high quality lighting it sets the mood for a Georgia farmhouse.

About Baron Dixon
Like many artists you'll find here, I work in a variety of styles and genres, so you will find a broad spectrum of work in my galleries--something for everyone. It ranges from photorealism to stylized cubism, from romantic to silly, from the everyday to the strange, from the cute to the macabre. The bread-&-butter of my work has been what I call "Neo-Catism", an intentionally pretentious name for a satirical style of "modern" art centered around cats and their wacky behavior. These originally started out as a joke back in my college days, when I was lampooning the aesthetic ethics of the so-called "modern" artists in my classes who deliberately made crap--and ONLY crap--and walked around with their noses in the air as if they were on...

Baron - I do the same things with glass, sand, beads, feathers, etc. on a few paintings. It's so much fun.

Baron - yet another favorite! Register tape? Very clever. Never would have thought of that. Well done!
Baron Dixon replied:
Thanks, Alanna! These cat paintings are always an excuse for me to experiment with different styles and techniques that I might not get around to using in a more traditional painting. I've been dabbling in creating original rubber stamps out of quarter-inch-thick Fun Foam, and building paintings with those. But this with the register tape tube was the first inkling of this idea for me.
