This was a gift to a person who is restoring a prairie. This year she has 14 herons gathering on the banks of the Little Sioux River. The tote bag was well received.

Artist's Description

The Belding Ground Squirrel is a medium sized species about eight to nine inches occupying eastern Oregon and serves as an important prey species for many of the predators such as coyotes, bobcats and many of the hawk species.

About Gary Wing

Gary Wing was born in western Montana and as a child he enjoyed roaming the Rocky Mountains on foot or on horseback. In 1959 his family moved to Redmond, Oregon and he developed a love for the high desert and the Cascade Mountains. Graduating from Redmond High in 1964 he went on to Oregon State University and then worked as a ranch manager and wildlife biologist with the Federal government. Retiring in 2011, he returned to photography which he developed a love for in the early 70ís but could never seem to find time for. His photos have been featured on the cover of Bee Culture Magazine, in Range Magazine, and the 2010 book Capture Central Oregon. He recently had a showing at Smith Rock State Park.
