Absolutely beautiful. Haven't chosen the perfect spot to display it yet, but it's a wonderful work of art I'm proud to display both for it's artistry and subject.

Bought for a fellow Navy veteran. He was beyond pleased, and so am I. Being able to choose such a unique mounting made the gift even "giftier" since it's so unique. Thanks - very pleased.

Sadly didn't turn out as nice as I had hoped. The picture is printed faintly and is hard to see well. Shipping and packaging was good.

Artist's Description

Most places we have been, we haven't seen completely, so we have to believe we have only seen them incomplete. Like the drip plants and the Shelac and Sedona Red sky, this piece is incomplete but tells the whole story. Using wood, stain, paper, toner transfers, sketches, found objects, paint, and a multitude of other sources turn the meta-physical into physical. These are originals only. I have not created a surf art prints series for this yet, as it is difficult to capture the way the materials work on the wood. "Surf art redux" it has been called. I want the viewer to increase their memories real or not, of favorite places they have been or want to go. Surfing trips I have been on have inspired this expressionistic Surf Art series. I hope you enjoy your tour into my traveled mind.

About Nathan Paul Gibbs

Nathan Paul Gibbs

ARTIST STATEMENT Nathan Paul's work revolves around, transcends and invokes a sense of wonder within an ocean-nurtured lifestyle. Through the exploration of water landscapes, peoples faces and rural images he frees the boundaries of their realistic attributes. Opening the dream-like qualities of moments revisited, thoughts recognized and landscapes explored. There are many ways that Nathan Paul portrays a subject, he uses muted themes, political sarcasm, and disguised messages, developed through the application of painting, chemical, and textual techniques. Through the use of acrylic on panel he loosely applies the paint trying only to control the content. The found object sculptures he creates openly reinvents the energy of ocean...
