Since I love color, minimalism, abstracts, geometry, and architecture, most everything you do fits in at least two of these categories, whether in art or photography. You have an amazing talent and a strong belief system of which that I am in awe. Always fantastic work on an emotional, spiritual and/or aesthetic plain. v/f

Marlene Burns replied:

you humble me with your kind words, lenore...and in thank you most kindly!

thank you to my buyer in pennsylvania this morning. enjoy!

Love bold simplicity you portray in your works.

Marlene Burns replied:

thank you so much, jean! this painting is a big guy...sitting right over my shoulder in my office!

Gorgeous work Marlene. I love this inspired series of yours!

It was interesting to read Reb's comments about a keyboard and a tune. The first thing that came to mind when I saw this piece was that this is a visual expression of spirituality in the same way that certain music is an audio expression. I don't know how much Jewish traditions support visual art as worship, but I think Christians could do a lot better. Most of our ikons, paintings and sculptures are hundreds of years old.

I love my beautiful "A Breath of Fresh Air" tote bag by Ellen Watkins! The image is so inspiring, uplifting and empowering, and the size is absolutely perfect. I love that the handles are long and I can easily grab the bag and swing it over my shoulder (I hate bags w/ handles that are short and make it uncomfortable to carry over my shoulder). This bag is particularly important to me because of how it makes me feel. I'm one of the co-leaders of a women's group and I have to carry a lot of materials to my meetings that are emotionally heavy due to the nature of our meetings. I wanted a bag for the materials that made me feel strong, powerful and whole. This bag does exactly that. And I love supporting Ellen who is a local artist and visionary! I love her work and I absolutely love this bag. It's perfect for anyone who wants a large tote bag that makes them feel beautiful and inspired!

Blessed are You, O Lord, Our God, King of the universe, who gave us the Torah of truth and implanted eternal life within us. Blessed are You, O Lord, Giver of the Torah." This image is the expression of the blessings that frame the chanting of a portion of Torah. The honor of saying these blessings is called an aliyah, 'going up' to the Torah. God is exemplified by the color red at the top of the painting with his wide influence raining down in the drips and bands of color. The red bands that head down to the red circle represent the giving of Torah at Mount Sinai. This revelation happened in the second book of Moses. Each of the rectangles symbolizes one of the five books of Moses. The painting has at its center, the silhouette of the Torah scrol...
