Artist's Description
Even those who normally have little interest in aicraft have heard of this plane--the P-51 Mustang. Whether shooting down Japanese Zeros in the Pacific Theatre or Messerschmitts over Europe, pilots would place one enemy insignia on the fuselage for each kill. Send five enemy aircraft to their grave and you are an “Ace.” The Mustang was already a superior aircraft, but It was the switch to the Rolls Royce Merlin engine that made it the plane that won the war.
About John King
A commercial, multi-engine, instrument rated pilot and well-reputed aviation and rodeo photographer, John is a staple at rodeos, air races, air shows, and just about anywhere aviation and rodeo lovers congregate. His images adorn walls and tabletops worldwide. A New York native, John now lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
