Description
Biarritz old port and coastline. Vintage version.
Biarritz is a city of the French Basque Country. It was a fishing and whaling village that turned into a summer vacation ever since the European royalty began visiting in the 1800s.
Since then, Biarritz has been known as the pearl in the crown of Southwestern France. The luxurious resort in the French Basque Country with its mild climate and beautiful coastline has attracted visitors such as Napoleon III and his wife, Eugenie, whom the prestigious Hotel du Palais was built for. Nowadays, Biarritz is known as the European surfing capital, with annual competitions of world-class standard.
site for the French high class during the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th.
As a result, lots of wonderful villas of different styles were built all along the seaside. Here we can see the Villa Le Cap and another smaller one, facing the sea in the high northern cliffs of the city, near the lighthouse.
