Bioplastic fungal pesticide granules. These granules have fallen onto developing leaves of a maize plant (Zea mays). They are non-toxigenic and designed to deliver the biocontrol agent Aspergillus flavus. The AF36 strain of this fungus is used as an active ingredient in pesticides. It is applied to cotton and maize (corn) plants as a fungal antagonist to displace the aflatoxin-producing strains of this fungus that can turn crops toxic.
