Mission Point is located on the Saint Mary's River south of Sault Saint Marie. It is a popular spot for boat watching as boats approach and leave the Soo Locks. There is a small restaurant at the north end and the Sugar Island Ferry leaves from there too.
The second of three ships, the Canada Marquis took her maiden voyage for Misener Transportation Ltd in 1983. She underwent many changes of ownership, still retaining her name, until 1991 when she was renamed Federal Richelieu. In 1992 she was again renamed, this time sailing as the Federal Mackenzie.
In 2002 Canada Steamship Lines acquired her and renamed her Birchglen. Her name is attributed to CSL's giving their ships a tree name in recognition of their purchase of Tree Line Navigation Company in 1937 and 1926 purchase of the Great Lakes Shipping Company who used 'glen' as part of their ship names.
With a length of 730 feet and a beam of nearly 76 feet, she is capable of hauling 33,824 tons of cargo.

I developed an interest in photography at a young age, often following my father around while he took pictures. From that I learned the basics and purchased my first camera while still in high school. I learned more through reading and trial and error. My first formal training came in 2013 when I took a basic photography class at a community college. During high school I became fascinated with the freighters that sailed on the lakes. The boats intrigued me and for a time I wanted to work on them. My career took me down a different path, but I never lost my interest in the boats. It's a great place. They did a major renovation of the park except for the bathroom facilities which are still pit toilets.
