The design is absolutely beautiful. Too beautiful to be used as a beach towel. In fact, my husband wants to hang it on the wall. I think it is too thin to be used as a beach towel, I can't return it because he loves it.

Love this towel. Great artwork, loved David McCullough’s book on the Brooklyn Bridge, attracted me to this towell. Glad that this New Yorker cover was available across the entire towel.

Artist's Description

Stretching its neck up tall and proud, a Great Blue Heron reaches for the morning sun. Its wings spread wide as it greets the morn. The form of the bird is reflected in the water of the lagoon, leaving a small wake as it wades along. Its posture mimics the wideness of the horizon and the tallness of the vegetation. The reflection of sky and grass onto the calm lagoon water completes the scene. I had seen two Great Blue Herons flying around Huntington Beach State Park, SC, and hurried to ready my camera. As I watched, the dance began -- neck stretched up, wings wide, slow steps toward what must be his mate. The morning light was just right, and the plot was slowly building.

About Kay Lovingood

Kay Lovingood

I've always loved looking at nature, drifting along with the ever-changing clouds, stopping to smell the roses. God's creation gives an abundant and ever changing variety of subjects for me to capture. I enjoy photographing all of nature, from the wide vistas of mountains and valleys, right down to spiders, butterflies, and dewdrops. I bought my first camera, a Canon AE-1, in 1979, and practiced and experimented and asked questions. I still ask questions and read blogs; but I've never taken a formal course or workshop. I switched to digital in 2000, which allows more experimenting, with instant feedback, so I can correct a shot immediately. My current camera is a Nikon D-90, with a 28-300 and a macro. Although I'm digital, I don't use...
