This is Blaze and one of her cubs, made in June of 2015. Blaze was a special bear and a favorite of many photographers. A "road bear" for the last 15 to 20 years, Blaze had raised several sets of cubs along the road in eastern Yellowstone National Park. In August, 2015 Blaze killed a hiker and was euthanized. She was my favorite and I will miss her. Grizzlies are the symbol of "wildness" and their presence is vital to the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

As an avid naturalist and conservationist, I spend a lot of time outdoors, especially in Yellowstone National Park. My passion for photography grew out of my love of wildlife. I grew up in southwest Ohio and attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio where I majored in Zoology. I moved to Wyoming in 1995 and was drawn to this area because it represents one of the last great wild places in the lower 48 states. With the Greater Yellowstone Area in my backyard, the photographic opportunities abound. In addition to shooting in Yellowstone, I also enjoy traveling to other parts of the United States, as well as exotic locations around the world, and photographing beautiful vistas and incredible wildlife.
