Saw a larger version of this in a vet's office and fell in love. They told me I could order my own and got a much smaller version to honor my Scottie who passed away last year. Looked up this site and was just floored. Wow what a gift to share this beauty. An artist stopped by today with a commissioned work and will be posting it for duplication. I had no idea this was a thing. Now, Every time I look at it I smile because the painting just captures the Scottie's personality so well. Gone but not forgotten. Love it!
Artist's Description
I got up early this morning to see the 2014 "Blood Moon" lunar eclipse out over the ocean. As usual, however, overcast skies made moon-gazing out of the question. So I created my own, using my photographs of paint splotches, hand-painted papers, ink-washed papers, Japanese calligraphy, and more. You can see a shadow cross the moon as well as a very faint reflection in what might be water just below. You know the phrase, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade?" Well, life gave me a moonless morning, so I made my own.

I'm a photographer, writer, educator based in the Pacific Northwest, specializing in photomontage work, combining photos I've taken of rust, walls, peeling paint, birds, postage stamps, trees, etc. into images that are completely new, different, and often weird. I also create physical collages, then find myself photographing parts of them to include in my photomontages. It's crazy, but it's fun! My career has encompassed writing guidebooks (primarily about where to photograph in California), newsletters (guides for photographers about where to photograph in the United States), leading photo workshops, and conducting online classes.
