Description
I love the rich, dark flavor of this fruit oddity. I look forward each year to the season when they become available. The blood orange, which orginated in Sicily, comes in versions that range from maroon to black in color and the flavor is reminiscent of raspberries or a fine wine. This picture is intended to offer the beauty of the fruit in a way that is a tribute to 19th century painters who chose flowers, fruit and other edibles as their subjects.

Excellent photography! There's three varieties of blood oranges, and to those who have never seen them before, it's hilarious at a person's reaction!

Jack, thanks very much. I urge you to get on down to your local market and taste a divine food.
