Wonderful photo Jay. l

Jay what a great image and explanation of glacial ice. I wish more attention was placed on the decline of our glaciers. They are such a miracle of nature and your photo shows the drama of them. The blue ice against the dark sky is such a wonderful contrast.

I appreciate the quality. The print was pretty small, so I was surprised it was rolled up and I had to flatten it. It would have been nice if it was flat in an envelope with cardboard support and a clear protective covers (like prints are sold at art shows). I do appreciate that artists have this resource.

I got this card for my sister's birthday and she absolutely loved it! We had our fortunes read by Zoltar Speaks when we were at Circus Circus in Reno, so she was surprised that I was able to find a Zoltar card. The quality was good and the picture was perfect. I would order from this company again!

Artist's Description

Glacial ice is a different color from regular ice. It is blue because the dense ice of the glacier absorbs every other color of the spectrum except blue - so blue is what we see! Sometimes the glacial ice appears almost turquoise. Its crystalline structure strongly scatters blue light. The ice on a glacier has been there for a really long time and has been compacted down so that its structure is pretty different from the ice you normally see. Glacial ice is a lot different from the frozen water you get out of the freezer. Glacial ice is not just frozen compacted snow. There are other things in the ice that make it much different from the ice in your home. Glaciers move through rock and soil as they carve their way down a slope. This means the ice is going to have a lot more ingredients than just water

About Jay Milo

Jay Milo born in New Jersey on January 2, moved to Canarsie, Brooklyn, as a small child, moved to San Francisco in 1948 and lives in Palm Desert since 1998. He is a widower. I love this area because it gives me wonderful access to natures beautiful creatures and flowers. In my early travel years I took many pictures with a Canon Camera. I received my Nikon Camera for one of my birthdays and have been taking much better pictures since then. We have a wonderful group of Hummingbirds and Doves, that come and feed everyday during their season here in California and I make a couple of batches of food a day in 3 feeders for them. They have become accustomed to me wondering around with my camera, and sometimes pose for me , which you will...
