This is an outstanding piece of work. The aura of Powell River with its resident fishing boats is portrayed beautifully. The vessel “Shirley” is very thought provoking to me personally.

I am very pleased with the quality of the product, and the gift recipient loved it and brought them to tears as it was a sentimental gift.

Artist's Description
Inventory #V2A7833. The blue morph is a very large butterfly that is found in the Amazon and coastal jungles of Ecuador and other tropical countries. Seldom seen in the wild, the blue morph is a very fast flier and is quite difficult to capture in stills when in flight. And they light for extremely short periods of time, so even catching them perched with wings spread is a very difficult task. The underside of the wings resemble the "Ojo de Brujo" in that they are dark brown with circles resembling eyes the confuse and frighten would-be predators.
About Kathy McClure
A photographer since the age of 8 when I received my first camera as a gift from my grandmother, I learned the art of photography by studying such current great artists as George Lepp, Dewitt Jones and Art Wolfe. My inspiration is God's beautiful creation, and I attempt to record it faithfully, shooting landscapes, flowers, animals, and anything that captures my fancy. I shot film until 2012 when I purchased my first pro digital camera. Now I do both, and do all of the creation in the camera before the snap. If the image isn't good enough to print as taken, it is discarded instead of being "improved" through Photoshop. I have my own darkroom and love making my own prints from negatives. One of my favorite techniques is to hand paint...

Beautiful work capturing this blue morpho butterfly Kathy! These fly around all the time, rarely sit down and if they do, usually they fold up their wings. You got the shot and of a very nice specimen too, its wings are undamaged and no scatches. Awesome!
Kathy McClure replied:
You're so right about them. I got SO lucky!
Brian Tada
