Congrats on your sale!

Congratulations on your sale!

A wonderful photo and masterfully composed. There's loads of atmosphere in this lighthouse. Thanks Mel for your generous comments on my Irish graveyard photo.

Beautiful-brings back memories

Thanks for your wonderful comments upon my "Washboard" photo. It is one of my favorites. ;0) Julie

I thought this was the Sanibel Light at first before I read your title. I remember the first time I saw the Sanibel light I thought it very strange that it was so low to the ground like this. I painted a picture of it, it impressed me so much. You photo of this one brings it all back...our first vacation that far south. This is a gorgeous shot with that bright blue cloud scattered sky. The brown roof contrasts beautifully. Love this one, Mel. ;0) Julie

Mel, not only is this a Fine Art Photograph recording one of the many fine lighthouses on the coast of the U.S. with successful daring in its composition, it is also a place I know like the back of my hand. It looks out upon Cayo Costa, the barrier Island across the Boca Grande Pass (the main entry to Charlotte Harbor - my home) from it which is a State Park with rustic camping for tourists. Cayo Costa is one of the last places on the coast of Florida with the charm I grew up with ... that has been paved over mostly and developed. Thank you for having the insight to see it well enough to capture it. I see it every time I sail into the Gulf of Mexico to go anywhere and it is the beacon that tells me I am nearing home.

An attractive lighthouse and image- nice work!

Quality product and excellent service. Although this was called Simplicity by the artist is is anything but - it is an extraordinary study of light on glass by Dominic Murray. The way it has been reproduced allows you to enjoy his amazing skill. We were lucky enough to see his work in Lanzarote, so had high expectations. We will definitely be using you again!

I love Lance Headlee art.... This is my 3rd picture... I will attach the picture and you will see how wonderful it looks in my room. My only disappointment was that it wasn’t signed, my other two paintings were signed.... It won’t top my from liking this because I love his artistry very Sexy Southwest.... I am not a Southwest decorator but I have to have these around my house... too beautiful not too.... Thank you Maryann O’Connor... I hope I can see you in Arizona again when you come to display your art.....

Good quality. I thought they would wrap the image on the sides but it's actually just black on the side. Wish I could choose that side color. But good quality. Many complements from the bitches.

So clever and a brilliant use of color!

Artist's Description

(Copyright Mel Steinhauer all rights reserved) On the Florida Gulf Coast, near Port Charlotte on Gasparilla Island, you will find this beautiful old lighthouse and museum. It was built in 1890 and maintained by keepers until it was automated in 1956. Legends say it is still haunted today by two ghosts. An early light keeper's daughter died of an illness there, and Spanish Pirate Jose Gaspar killed a Princess that he had kidnapped and loved, after she rejected him. He buried her near this place years before it was built, and then in remorse, remained here until his death. So, when visiting this beautiful place be sure to look and listen for the two ghosts of the ... Boca Grande Lighthouse. I created this image from my original photograph taken on location by adding digital enhancements, textures or other effects. These effects and image details will become more visible by clicking inside the green magnifier square as the cursor is placed over the image.

About Mel Steinhauer

Mel Steinhauer

My love for photography began as a boy when I was taught the basics by my father. During a tour of duty with the U.S. Army in Vietnam, I bought a professional model Nikon SLR film camera and dreamed of becoming an artistic photographer when I returned home. A family of my own and a new career put that dream on hold, but I have always enjoyed photography as an art form. Several years ago, after surviving another kind of war with cancer, I began to really see the beauty in our world. Ever since then I have been inspired with a new awareness of life and an improved photographic vision. This has compelled me to find beautiful scenes wherever I go and share my favorite creations with others who may not have the time to do so. In 2006 I finally...
