I'm thrilled with the cards! One of the cards I put into a 5x7 frame for someone and the other I sent as a card, both recipients LOVED them. Thank you! The quality of the picture on the cards is fabulous.

Excellent work! High-quality cards at fine price! Especially appreciated after poor-quality work elsewhere.

Mona's work is simply dreamy and the card quality is all that I'd hoped. I've been a fan for years, but since I can't afford to buy original art, I had an idea for a little piece for a new gallery wall and voila! So happy I thought of it and that FAM had these affordable offerings. I'll def be looking for more!

Artist's Description

General Philip Sheridan was a Union general in the Civil War, and was immortalized on horseback by renowned American sculptor Gutzon Borglum, whose most famous work is Mount Rushmore. In 1908, before he was established as a 'first rate" sculptor, Borglum won a competition to create a statue of Sheridan in Washington, D.C. President Theodore Roosevelt was present at the unveiling of the statue, and publicly declared that it was "first rate", an accolade that helped boost Borglum's career, which culminated with his masterpiece on Mount Rushmore (interestingly, Theodore Roosevelt is one of the four Presidents on the South Dakota mountainside). The famous statue of General Sheridan, with hat in hand, is at Sheridan Circle in Washington, D.C. The full statue of General Sheridan has him riding a horse, but this photograph is a partial view of the statue and focuses on the man's upper body and his dramatically outstretched arm, with hat in hand.

About Cora Wandel

I enjoy photography and writing, and sometimes think of myself as a photojournalist. If there is a story to be told with a photograph, I tell it. As a longtime resident of Washington, DC, a lot of my photographs are of this area, and I enjoy writing in the description something about the shot -- it could be a short statement about an equestrian statue in the middle of a park, or a more intimate tale of the mausoleum where Abraham Lincoln's son, Willie, was entombed for the remaining three years of Lincoln's presidency after the boy's death. These photographs are contained in the aptly named "Washington DC" Collection. In addition to "WDC" there are eight other Collections on this page, and two of my favorites are "Paintings" and...
