Artist's Description

The moss covered bracing holding up Mingus Mill was built in 1886, this historic grist mill uses a water-powered turbine instead of a water wheel to power all of the machinery in the building. Located at its original site, Mingus Mill stands as a tribute to the test of time. The current mill was completed in 1886, and was one of the most advanced mills in the Smoky Mountains due to it’s use of a steel turbine design. Mingus Mill was designed and built by Sion Thomas Early, an apprentice Millwright and native of Virginia. Early built built the mill in 3 months, at a total cost of $600.00. In 1968, the National Park Service fully restored Mingus Mill. Some of the families would bring their corn and wheat for more than 15 miles to have it ground at the mill. About Pat Turner

I have been taking photos now for 40 plus years. I started with a Kodak Instamatic 126 camera. I even got some good photos with it to my surprise. I then moved on to a Minolta SLR which I had for many years. Next came point and shoot 35mm cameras from mid range to higher end. I finally ended my 35mm shooting with a top of the line Minolta 9xi. Then it was on to Digital Point and shoot cameras to higher end point and shoots as they got better and that leads to my current camera, a Nikon D3300. I am very pleased with this camera and as you should see it takes very nice photos. As for me personally I am 18 with 30 years of experience on top of that ;-) I have changed jobs and professions several times, but I have always love taking...
