There's a lot of speculation about which houses in Sunset Heights may have provided shelter for Pancho Villa. It's like all the old rifles hanging behind bars in historic New Mexico landmarks—apparently they all were the rifles used to shoot Billie the Kid. But in this case there is concrete evidence—well, brick evidence, that this particular house on Los Angeles Avenue in El Paso was around before Villa's demise in 1923. The porch is built like a fortress and Pershing's bullets would have easily ricocheted off the stone and kiln-fired bricks. The bricks can be googled by the three letters "T. F. B." if interested.

I started out as (what I call) a chemical photographer. When I was a teen I started earning money with my camera by taking pictures of sports teams. I built a darkroom on my parent's patio and learned a lot about how to make a room light-tight. Processing film requires a lot of water, so I learned a lot about plumbing too! With degrees in English and photo-journalism from the University of Texas at El Paso, I became a teacher mainly for public high schools but also taught at the community college and eventually at UTEP after earning a Master's degree. In the 1980's I became certified by the state of Texas to teach computer science. As a computer arts teacher and designer of digital media, I started using Adobe software products...
