Drawing - Pen And Ink On Cold-pressed, Eco-friendly, Vegan, Heavyweight Archival Paper
This portrait comes from Rick's pen and ink illustration series titled "Visual Activism."
It was inspired by Just Mercy - a deeply moving film based on the life work and memoir of civil rights attorney Bryan Stevenson. The film shines a light on the deep-seated injustices and inner workings of the prison industrial complex that continue to plague Black men in particular to this very day. His "hopelessness is the enemy of justice" quote is both timely and true. Series 2020. The original drawing is 6" W x 9" L and drawn with black ink on eco-friendly + vegan, cold-pressed, heavyweight archival paper. 10% of proceeds from the sale of the original drawing, as well as prints, go directly to support Bryan's non-profit organization, the Equal Justice Initiative.
