When will I get my order???
At 12 yrs. old I was fascinated by this little box called a camera. If you pressed the button and brought the negatives to a drugstore, one week later photos would be returned in its' place. I didn't understand this magic. When I was old enough, I studied photography at Brooklyn College. I found that if I put my negatives in a thing called an enlarger a shadow would appear on photo paper. When I dropped that paper in some chemicals, a picture would emerge. Wow! What a sad image. It touches my heart.
Madeline Ellis replied:
Carl, I know what you mean. Thanks fir your input.
Clifford Beck
Madeline, Great image! On the reason for bending over: I suspect it is the same reason as I observed in Prague where the beggers actually kneel on the ground with their heads on the pavement with arms extended. It is a declaration of being "unworthy" to receive help, or an expression of "Shame" in asking others for help. Much different from our domestic street people who ask for money here.
Madeline Ellis replied:
Clifford, thanks for the info and the great comment.
Madeline Ellis
Kip, I am honored that you made this one of your favorites as well.
Madeline Ellis
Frank, thanks for the feature in the Street Photography group.
Madeline Ellis
Ann, thanks. I do not know why the beggars walk around bent over. I have to do some research. If anyone knows, I would appreciate the info. The subservient position makes it even more heartbreaking.
Ann Horn
Great street scene, Madeline. Well spotted and sensitively photographed.
