Madeline Ellis replied:

Thanks for the feature of this photo in the group Travel Art. I am honored!

A lovely portrait, Madeline and your story/confession is touching too. I like the way you included her bags. We never know who we are meeting in the street - we all make assumptions and so often are wrong. F/L And featured in Street Photography.

Madeline Ellis replied:

Frank, such a lovely comment and thanks for the F/L as well. I am honored that you featured this photo in Street Photography.

I am honored to have this photo featured in the Casual Portrait Photography group.

Sad image.

Madeline Ellis replied:

Yes, it is sad. She was a very proud woman who was insulted that confused her with a beggar.

Madeline Ellis replied:

It is nice to know, Carl, that this photo is now one of your favorites.

I like the expression you captured here

Madeline Ellis replied:

Thanks, Jeff. And for your tech support.

Carl, Gary, Sharon and Valerie, thanks for noticing this woman and comment. I don't think I will every forget this woman and what I learned from her.

Beautiful sweetheART a superstar * & a fab fave ;~} Valz

What a beautiful woman she is, and proud. Bitter sweet story Madeline.

There is a very sweet sadness to this picture. It is enhanced by the story you tell. You have a good heart.

Great service and product!

Item arrived exactly as expected and well packaged. I absolutely adore it.

Lovely photo, excellent quality print. The greeting card packs of 25 came shipped in a ridiculously overprotective amount of packaging. Each set already included a cardboard case, but then all sets were mounted in the center of a shallow supply box about 2.5' square, sealed with metal staples (!), which were not easily removed.

Love it.

I LOVE the picture. The problem is that it was TAPED on the picture, and it wasn't obvious, so when I opened the roll, it tore. Have to say, that really bothered me. I can't really use it, now, and I don't want to buy another one. Had I know it would be presented that way, I certainly would have looked for it, although it was pretty stuck to that tape.

Overall was good, though definitely did not like my paper selection (Somerset Velvet), description makes it sound like it will look way better and higher quality, and it does the opposite, makes it look more vintage looking.

Artist's Description

I mistakingly took this woman selling flowers for a beggar and gave her money. When she handed me a flower in return for the money, I refused. The next time I saw her, she angrily put the flowers behind her back showing me that I had insulted her.

About Madeline Ellis

At 12 yrs. old I was fascinated by this little box called a camera. If you pressed the button and brought the negatives to a drugstore, one week later photos would be returned in its' place. I didn't understand this magic. When I was old enough, I studied photography at Brooklyn College. I found that if I put my negatives in a thing called an enlarger a shadow would appear on photo paper. When I dropped that paper in some chemicals, a picture would emerge. Wow! I was hooked and so I studied at the International Center Of Photography. Now, I take a photo, plug my camera into my computer and the photo I just took pops up on my screen. Times have changed. I have had four one woman shows and one group show in Manhattan. It was an...
