This is an outstanding piece of work. The aura of Powell River with its resident fishing boats is portrayed beautifully. The vessel “Shirley” is very thought provoking to me personally.

Artist's Description
While walking one day I spotted a dead butterfly, completely intact. I brought it home with the intent of creating a mandala of it. Several months passed without me completing this task. On another walk, a bunch of moths and butterflies appeared. Realizing I had forgotten about doing the butterfly mandala, I said out lout to the moths & butterflies...I promise to create the butterfly mandala. Within a few steps they went away as fast as they came. Within the week I created this mandala.
I designed it with 6 butterflies connected wing-to-wing. I used the butterfly markings as I saw them on my found butterfly however I used different colors.
Mandala Message: "Like the gentleness of the butterfly, so can I be to me"

For me, creating mandalas is more than just coloring pretty patterns in a circle. I do it because my spiritual evolution and my creativity demand it of me. With each new pattern that catches my eye, I want to play with it, turn it around, twist it, turn it upside down, try it this way and that...and THEN go about coloring it...sometimes more than once.
